Dennis: The triangle of death-almost no children under the age of five were alive. Today on Passages Bill takes us to Sudan.

Bill: There was what we called "the triangle of death" between three towns. So much raiding had taken place that there were literally almost no children left under the age of five.

Dennis: This is Passages. I'm Dennis Benson. The war in Sudan has killed a million and a half people.

Bill: This fighting has resulted in the weakening of the forces of the rebels which has now allowed militia, supplied with arms, by the government of Sudan to come to do massive raids into that area.

Dennis:Bill is a peacemaker in war torn Sudan.

Bill: In the last six months sometimes there have been thousands of horse cavalry who have come down backed up by foot soldiers.

Dennis: These forces come to destroy all life.

Bill: Militia will raid, killing the men, taking some of the women and children as slaves, throwing bodies into the well, in order to spoil the water.

Dennis: Bill's quest for peace is a challenge from your Presbyterian and United Methodist friends.
